What is the RYA Power Boat Level 2 and in which part of the world is it valid?
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) founded in the UK in 1875 is a worldwide recognized body. The RYA Powerboat Level 2 (RYA 2) allows you to drive a boat in Dubai and everywhere in the world. In most countries the RYA 2 is enough to drive a boat, while in some European countries you need the International Certificate of Competence (ICC). Once you get the RYA 2, there is just a simple administrative application to get the ICC. And we can help you with that. You can find our accreditations on the RYA website here.

How to get a boat license in Dubai?
This is a 2 days course, mainly practical but with some classroom teaching. There is no test at the end. On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate.
During these 2 days you will practice boat driving at sea, securing a buoy, anchoring, mooring the boat, maneuvers in the marina to dock the boat, and recovering a person from the water. You will also learn how to read a map, use a radio, follow the navigation rules, inspect the main security element of the boat and what to do in case of an emergency. The ratio is 3 students per instructor.

Where is the training?
You join us at our base at Fishing Harbour, Umm Suqeim 2, the marina just next to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel (JBH). You can find us on Google Maps looking for Nemo WaterSports Dubai, or at this link. Most of the time is spent on our boat driving, doing maneuvers and learning the basics of radio, security. There are some parts in a classroom in our marina learning to read maps and a few others points.
What type of boat can you drive and how far?
In Dubai and most European countries with a RYA Level 2 you can drive a boat up to 12 meters without power limits up to 3 nautical miles or 6 km from the coast.
In most European countries you also need a license to drive a jet ski. The RYA License should be enough but some European countries ask for the ICC (International Certificate of Competence). With the RYA Level 2, you just need an administrative application to get the ICC. We will help you with that.
